Mar 14, 2022 9:30am - 9:45am (Amsterdam) | Utrecht University Campus Tour Welcome to Utrecht, the city of canals, culture, students and knowledge.
One of the first things you notice about the city are the beautiful canals...
...and old architecture filled with shops, restaurants, café's, museums and more.
As a student Utrecht is the perfect mix between a small village and a big city.
It makes you feel at home quite easily, while also having lots of stuff to do at the same time.
Utrecht is of course home to Utrecht University. There are three campuses spread across the city.
Based on your programme, you could have classes in either one of these locations.
But facilities such as the library or study spaces are open to you across all of the campuses.
Let's start here in the city centre.

The largest concentration of scientists and engineers in the Photonics research area you will find at the University of Twente. Different experts work together in the research and development of photonic chips, development of microscopic techniques and application of nano-photonics in sensing, manufacturing, and imaging. Therefore, if you are looking into a PhD in the Photonic area, the UT is the right place to be. The UT is taking place in many governmental and European funding, for example, with the NGF Photon Delta, the UT is involved in SiN platform securing around ~70M€. We are now in Phase 1 of the Program, and looking for many PhDs and PotDocs.

Mar 23, 2024 3:00pm - 3:30pm (Amsterdam) | Covalent Inhibitors for the Proteome-wide Identification of New Druggable Targets for Antibiotics Dr. Stephan Hacker performed his PhD studies with Prof. Andreas Marx at the University of Konstanz, Germany, and his postdoctoral research with Prof. Benjamin Cravatt at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, USA. Afterwards, he moved to the Technical University of Munich, Germany, to work as an independent group leader. In 2021, he became an Assistant Professor at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry. Stephan Hacker’s group develops chemistries for novel covalent protein ligands targeting diverse amino acids as well as chemoproteomic technologies to study their target engagement with resolution of the modified amino acid residue in proteome-wide studies. His group focuses on the application of these compounds and technologies to identify new druggable target proteins in bacteria.
